NEW YEAR’S EVE MAKEUP
The festive season may be nearly over but I’m not done with all the glitters and sparkles just yet. And New Year’s Eve is just the perfect excuse for me to really try on some bold lip colours. My Christmas look was more sparkly and glammed that’s why I opted to create a simple New Year’s Eve makeup. I feel like New Year’s is when people are busier, hence, have no time to really get all dolled up. (Okay, so maybe that’s just me?) Honestly, our home is at its busiest during New Year’s because part of our tradition (a Filipino tradition) is to really go big and grand. And when I say big and grand, I mean lots of food on the table (except for chicken – it’s tradition, too), tons coins thrown all over the house at midnight and so much more. Why? Because we believe that going grand on NYE will give us a prosperous year ahead. Okay, and maybe putting on something red is part of the tradition too.
Anyway, I think this look is perfect for the busy gals and pals like me. No falsies, no winged eyeliners, just all sparkles. It is something you can create in less than ten minutes or fifteen minutes tops. It’s really simple yet gives that “I’m ready to slay NYE” vibe without all the fuss. So, here are my picks:
The L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation is a trusty drugstore foundation that offers longevity and nice coverage for oily-skinned. But for those on the combination side, I suggest you try your luck on Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation. I’ve raved about it a few months back and I really think it’s worth the try. But if you’re oily-skinned and only got this foundation then you should pack it with a really nice setting powder to lock in oil. I don’t recommend it if you’re gonna wear it for hours but it’s all up to you. Then, I used Maybelline FIT ME! Concealer in the shade Sand under my eyes and on the dark spots. It’s been a while since I last used Rucy’s Vanity Whitening Effect Mineral Two Way Cake because it looks too light for me. But I was able to use it as a nice setting powder on top of my concealer for under eyes. And it actually looks good. It didn’t crease or looked too cakey so, I’m really I happy I found a better way to use it.
When it comes to cheeks, I don’t put so much. I’d like to keep it subtle because I focus on my contour more. The Wet n Wild Blush Pink has a nice warm, subtle peachy shade, fit for medium-skinned chicas like me. I’ve been really leaning towards peach shade blushes, so this is a really nice colour. For contour, I still stick with my City Color Contour Palette. I use this for my everyday look. The palette has nice contour shades, really fits any occasion and it’s really affordable. I’m still checking on some nice contour palettes, hopefully, I find a new one, so I can mix things up. For highlighter, you guess it, it’s my current favourite, Sleek MakeUP Solstice Highlighting Palette. Just look at that nice subtle glow.
The NYX Professional Makeup Avant Pop! Nouveau Chic Shadow Palette is my eyeshadow palette of choice for NYE. I love playing around with it and testing its limits. I think it has some nice shades for occasions like NYE. It has the combination of matte transition colours and the shimmering light and dark colours. I actually used a bit of the sparkly dark green in the palette to use as my “eyeliner”. I feel like it gives the eyes a little pop and I like to think it has a hint of festivity. It’s my own way to cheat on using eyeliners. I finish this off with a touch of Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara just to open my eyes a little.
Last but not the least, the lips. For this photo, I used Maybelline Colorshow in Bold Crimson because I couldn’t find my Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick – Certainly Red. I’m not a big fan of Maybelline lipsticks because they tend to wear off easily. So, I’m sticking with my Revlon tonight.
That’s it for 2017, babes! I do hope you all slay NYE. Comment down below the makeup you’re wearing tonight.
