Easy Glam: Holiday Makeup Look
The ever so sparkly eyeshadows and matching red or nude lippies are just a couple of my favourite things about holiday makeup looks. It’s a no-brainer that I’m in love with glitters and sparkles. And holiday makeup looks are just the perfect way of using lots of ’em without people judging you for being so extra. Am I right? And it’s really about time to make it an annual thing here at Anne Wonders.
It’s a really magical time of the year and this time around, I’ve been trying my best to stock more makeup products. So, that I can share more makeup looks with you guys. And this time, I had the great opportunity to finally come up with a simple and easy glam holiday makeup look. I’m no MUA but I do have a few tricks up on my sleeve that helps me create a neat look.
I want to share with you guys a glam look that I actually did (for the first time) at our company Christmas party. It actually gave me the excuse to purchase new makeup products. So, yay! (I won’t be going into details on how these products are as I will be doing a separate post on ’em.) You guys can definitely create or wear them for any occasion. Right now, I’m thinking that this will be perfect this holiday season.
So, let’s get started.
I like to go in on the eyes first. Something I learned from my favourite MUA, Haley Wight (@cosmobyhaley). It prevents the eyeshadow fallouts from ruining your foundation and kinda makes it easy to clean ’em up. The NYX Professional Makeup Avant Pop! Nouveau Chic Shadow Palette is the one thing I picked up last minute to use for the company party. It so happen that they had a huge online sale and that Laura Lee did a great review on them, so, I picked it up.
After I primed my eyes with Rimmel Stay Matte Primer, I used the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer to conceal the visible veins in my eyes. I pat the cream shade (bottom left side) all over my lid to create a nice, smooth base. Next, I used the light brown (top second left side) as my transition colour. And then I went in with violet and just build it up on the crease area to create a nice smokey finish. The key here is to just blend.
After that, I used a pea size amount of concealer and carved my entire lid. Then, I patted on the sparkly bronzed colour (bottom second left side). To give it an added glitter, I used the bottom right shade of my Sleek MakeUP Solstice Highlighting Palette and pat it on top of the sparkly bronze shade. And just to give the look a little edge, I put the bronze on my lower lashes.
And then to glam up the look, I put on Nyx Wicked Lashes. You guys can also put on some eyeliner to make it more intense and dramatic but since I don’t want to risk on ruining the entire look (no skill, hun.), I decided to skip the eyeliner.
Then, for the eyebrows, I used Maybelline Eye Studio Brow Drama Pro Palette in the shade dark brown to outline my brows. And Detail Makeover Eyebrow Palette to fill in the sparse area and of course, Shawill Colour Brow Eyebrow Mascara to put the hairs into place.
For the base, I used Rimmel Stay Matte Primer and L’Oreal Paris True Match Foundation in the shade Golden Sand for the first time together. Honestly, I thought they wouldn’t work out well together since the latter is on the dewy side compared to the first one but I was stand corrected. I opted to use the True Match foundation to give my skin a nice little glow because it has tiny sparkles or glitters in it. And for the sponge, I used Missha beauty sponge.
I used the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in the shade Sand to highlight the high points of my face (bridge of my nose, under my eyes and forehead) and kinda conceal some dark spots. Then I just started baking under my eyes with Nichido Final Powder in Translucent and put some on my nose and those that I concealed.
And for contouring, I used my local favourite, City Color Contour Effects On The Go and Sleek Makeup Solstice Highlighting Palette. I’m really loving this highlighting palette. Not only is the quality super great but it is also so affordable. You guys will definitely see more of this highlighting palette soon. Then I just slightly brushed my cheeks with the E.L.F. Blush Blushing, just to give a little colour on my face.
Last but not the least, for the lips, I always add a little extra moisture using Vaseline Rosy Lip Therapy before I put on any lip product. Then I used the Maybelline Colorshow in Chic Peach to finish off the look. You can always switch things up with the lip color. I was actually thinking of using a bold matte red lipstick but decided not to. Red lipsticks aren’t really my thing mainly because they don’t look good on me.
Anyhoo, I hope you guys learned something. If any of you decide to try this look out, don’t forget to tag me. I would love to see them.
