To more sparkling and glittery eyeshadows this New Year!
The year is finally coming to an end in the Philippines in a few hours and I’m freaking out! It felt as if I just greeted everyone Merry Christmas, exchanged gifts and completely went bare faced yesterday (yes, I totally did – got no time) and now, I’ve ran around looking like a headless chicken and gathered all my glitters and sparkly eyeshadows to formally welcome 2020 looking all glammed up. Not to mention, I still need to ransack my closet for an outfit to pair my face with (yes, it is usually the other way around) but here I am, writing down my Makeup Guide for NYE (on the floor of my room) for gals and pals like me who are completely unaware of what to wear later (or tomorrow – depends on where you are) – because we all love cramming at the last minute, right? – while everyone in the house is getting dinner ready.
Anywway, I did mention earlier that I went bare faced during Christmas that’s why I wasn’t able to share any Holiday look with you guys this year just because your girl was taking a break from all the makeup plus I had a serious breakout. But I’m back and my face is somewhat healed, and I’m totally ready to shout “Bye Felicia” with a rockin eyeshadow.
So, without further ado, let’s get started.
I know most of you would like to consider something matte for a Primer especially someone who has an oily skin like me and that’s not wrong. But sometimes, looking too matte makes your face look too flat and we really don’t want that. So, good thing I was able to get my hands on a local beauty brand called Snoe Beauty and their Blur Connoisseur Matte Primer. I won’t get into too much detail about it as I’ll be writing a separate review on tihis one in the coming days. But let me tell you, it’s just the right primer for anyone who wants to look matte with a bit of glow.
I’ve purchased the Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation few months back but was only able to try them out just recently. This foundation features light-adjusting complex to help prevent white cast in photos to give your skin #nofilter perfection. It’s truly great for this time of the year to capture your amazing makeup look. I’ve tested it in different lighting situations and definitely atest to it’s effectivity. Although, if you’re looking for a medium to heavier coverage, I suggest trying your luck on something different like the NARS – All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation, it is out of the drugstore spectrum but it’s definitely worth the buck. But if you’d like to stick to drugstore, you can just mix this foundation with something else. What I normally do is that I mix it with either my L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation (more mattifying) or my Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation (a bit luminious) especially because I got the shade Soft Beige which is on the lighter yellow side (a wrong shade for me) and I needed something to neutralize it a bit.
For my cheeks, I always love going for a more subtle, natural look especially when I have so much going on on my eyes. I’d like the person to have their focus on my eyes and not on how pink my cheeks are plus c’mon, I don’t really wanna look like a clown. So, to achieve that natural cheeks I always reach for Wet n Wild Color Icon Ombre Blush-The Princess Daiquiries. It looks really soft on the skin , giving you just a small (enough) amount of hue. Another favourite of mine with a slight sheen is the Milani Cosmetics Powder Blush in Dolce Pink. It’s perfect for those who are looking for a little color on the cheeks with a bit of a glow or highlight. Defo recommend it if you’re too lazy to pick up a highlighter. As for my contour, I still go for my Rude Cosmetics Audacious Palette.
And for the star of the show, the eyes. I still can’t get over using my Morphe 35O Nature Glow Palette. It’s super versatile because you can create different looks with it as it has a wide array of matte and shimmers. Truly suitale for all skin tones. If you want to check out my full review on this palette you can check it here. For this eye look, I only used three shades, one on the warmer side (a bit orangey) to create depth, a darker brown on the corners and a slightly white-pinkish shimmer to make things a little glamourous. I love doing this kind of makeup look coz it’s easier especially when you want to achieve a cut crease. This one like a cheat cut crease because you really don’t have to do an actual one. And for the icing on the cake, I traced my top lid with Milani Hypnotic Lights Eye Topper in Star Light. It’s another favourite trick or tip if you want a little “oomph” on the eyes. Plus, it really accentuates the eyes.
I finished off the whole look with a NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in the shade Copenhagen. It is a darker shade of red but I just slightly dab it on my lips and put a bit of that shimmer from Morphe 35O for a litle sparkle (it’s what I used as a highlight as well).
Let me know what you guys think!
